Asus p8h61 -m le wont boot

So I just bought an Asus mobo and when i try to power it up the CPU fan spins and the PSU fan spins for a second or two and then stops then repeats. I have connected both the 24 pin connector and the 4 pin connector. When i remove the ram it stays running and beeps the no memory error code. I unhooked everthing and rebuilt it one piece at a time and it still wont boot. It wont start with only the 8gb card or only the 4 gb card either.

Specs:
Intel Core i5 quad 3.1ghz
12 gb ddr3 corsair ram 1155 (1 8gb, 1 4gb)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Yep, that's the problem.

A 6 series board (like the H61 you have) won't work with an Ivy Bridge CPU (like the 3450) without a BIOS update. Unfortunately, the only way to do that is with a Sandy Bridge CPU installed.

You have two options. You can just return the board and get a 7 series board (ie. H77, Z75, Z77, B75, etc.), or you can buy a cheap Sandy Bridge Celeron like a Celeron G440 to be able to flash the BIOS of the current board.

Well, he was right, in a way. It will work (eventually), BUT only with a BIOS update.
