Hey guys, looking to build a new rig. Looking to play Battlefield 3 and other upcoming games on best settings, etc.

My current build (around five years old) can't manage 20+ fps on Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on lowest settings, so yeah, it's time to upgrade!

Here's my rough list, what do you guys think? Thanks! :)

just a few notes: a 5-year old PC, the HDD and/or DVD drive may be IDE, which means you must replace them if they are.

2) Don't bother with an AMD 6-core for gaming. Its outperformed by intel quad cores, and Bulldozer is due out next month. If you must go AMD, get a Bulldozer-ready motherboard (970/990) and a Phenom II X4 or even Athlon II X3/X4 and buy a Bulldozer to replace it when it comes out.

3) 850W is probly overkill for a single 570. a single 570 will run excellently on a 620-650W PSU. the Antec Hard Core Gamer 620W is $70. Consider a different case like the excellent Rosewill Challenger or a HAF 912.

Thank you so much for the advice! I changed up the list. I reduced the power supply size and switched over to an Intel CPU / Mobo, along with a case-switch.

What do you think?

very solid.

you might want to add a heavier-duty heat sink (like a Thermaltake Frio) to push the easy overclock of the 2500K a few 100MHz higher.

also, the Corsair GX mmodels don't have as good a rep as the HX/TX/CX models

I'd suggest the XFX 650W model or the Antec Hard Core Gamer 620W model as better choices.
