Best interface for Vegas PC

Hello, I'm about to upgrade my recording video editing system from an old Windows ME/Vegas 3.0 to a brand new Windows 7/Vegas 10. What's the best audio/midi interface to use to connect to my gear and system

It really depends on your budget, I don't really do the audio thing but I do alot of 3D modeling and Programming. Let me know what budget your at and I'll ask my brother what he thinks (Musician).

Anything else in terms of video editing and a good system for that I can help with, otherwise just let me know the estimate on the budget and I'll be more then happy to help.
