hello all. i am going to purchase a graphics card soon and narrowed it down to the two choices in the title. i asked on another forum and someone told me that the 6670 and 5670 are so close that their difference doesn't matter and that their difference in memory does not matter either because i am playing at a lower resolution ( 1440 x 900 or lower ) now i have come here to see what you guys think and how much better you guys think the 6670 is if even that much better at all for their 40 dollar price difference. thanks.

edit: it should be noted all i want this card for is to be able to play starcraft II at a reasonable frame rate ( at least above 30 with a lot of stuff going on) and that it needs to draw little power. thanks.

processor: AMD Dual Core @ 2.50 GHz
ram: 8gb (7.75 available)
psu: 300W

You need new psu cause your psu will not handle it. Also be more specific on hardware spec. Get cpu-z to get your mobo, cpu and ram detail.

i was told that lower end cards like the 5670 and the 6670 will run fine on my psu as they don't draw much power.

Yes, but it also depend on the quality and age of the psu. Cause as they get old, the efficiency goes down and obviously borderline quality psu have low efficiency as well. So if you have a old and/or not so good quality psu, then you need a new one.

okay. disregarding the PSU is the 40 dollar difference between the two cards worth it? i was told by a few people that they are basically the same card and that the 6670 doesn't really outperform the 5670 THAT much to warrant the 40 dollar difference. could you tell me in stupid man terms what kind of difference in performance you'd see between the two and if it is really worth the extra 40 dollars if all i want to do is play starcraft II, thanks.

No, they are comparable. Just make sure your cpu is not bottleneck, your psu is in good health and your mobo support the card. Some people have problem getting pci-e 2.1 card to run in pci-e 1.0 mobo.

so, the 6670 is not worth the 40 extra dollars?
