i5-2500k... Im sure if you have been browsing the forums at all you will see that is basically the consensus of everyone. Best price performance ratio is the i5-2500k. Happy gaming

The I5 2500K is much faster than a Phenom II X4 or X6 in gaming.

If your going for a high end set up with high performance video cards your going to want the stronger processor. The I5 wins at stock settings, and the margin of victory will increase if you overclock, because it'll clock further. While doing this it also consumes less power, and has a socket/platform with more hope of good future upgrades.

If you were going to go AMD, you would need a different MOBO and I would just say get the 955 or 965 instead of the 1100T. If you have the money for the i5-2500k, dont even think about it, it will serve you better in games than AMD

same review, F1 is in the minority of CPU intensive games

also, same results for AVP:

This one’s easy. Aliens Vs. Predator doesn’t give a damn about the CPU under your hood. Even at 1680x1050, there are about four frames per second difference between the 10 tested configurations. Feed this one GPU power and it’s good to go.
