Hey Guys

hopefully this is enough info for u guys to be able to help me..

I'm making a PC for the first time I'm just a bit confused about motherboards

Here are my parts so far

CPU: Intel i5 2500k
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 570

I am only going to be using one monitor (1900x1080)

I may get another graphics card sometime in the future so SLI.

I want to use 8GB of 160mhz RAM

any suggestions would be awesome cheers
thx
Jono

EDIT: oops 1600 mhz ram!

I would say that all of those are nice boards. I have a gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 which is quite close to that gigabyte board and it has been a nice experience.

The better future proofing solution would probably be the Asrock board, whichever has the features you want. If you don't need all the stuff in Z68, by all means save the $30 and go with the P67. They have Gen3 PCIe so they are about as new as they come.

Hard to go wrong with Asus either, that board has received praise from the reviewers.

So I would say you can't go wrong with any of them. Just pick out the one that fills your requirements for connectivity and features.

Hey guys, after a bit of research I have narrowed it down to a couple of boards:

Gigabyte z68 XP UD4 http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_711_1183&products_id=18071

OR

ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_711_1183&products_id=18041

They are both very similar except I noticed something:

The Asrock has 2 x PCIExpress 3.0 x16 slots wheras the Gigabyte only has one, and to make matters worse the gigabyte PCIExpress is only version 2.0

I am very likely going to use SLI in the future and having 2 PCIExpress 3.0 x16 slots would improve performance wouldn't it?

I think I'll go with the asrock

EDIT: Lolz dint refresh,... PCIe 3.0 might not be a major issue unless the next-gen cards drastically perform better on the PCie3.0 slot,... But anyways the ASRock board is indeed a very good one,...
^ Nice board,... If your case doesnt have front panel USB 3.0, then the ASRock Z68 would be a very good option as it comes with one which can be fitted to the floppy slot,...
