Power save mode

Somebody, anybody please help me!!! I recently moved flats and took my computer with me. It worked fine until then. Since my move my IBM monitor stays black and I get a short green flash message saying "power save mode" and it goes black again. I can't see anything so I really can't type (just saying, in case you tell me to) Any ideas what the problem might be?? What can I do? I reconnected a fewt times. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please bear in mind that I am computer literate. Many thanks in advance!!
