N68s3+ cpu problems

just built new system, amd phenom 2 black edition showing 803Mhz no change during load

Try disabling "cool and quiet" in your bios. On many boards, it won't work when overclocking the cpu. And some versions of cpuz won't give you realtime changes while checking the specs. Depends on the motherboard.

Well its probably because you are using a 125w cpu on the 95w max supported motherboard. You will need to change the motherboard or the cpu, no other fixes available if this is the case.

Ok, everything checks out in compatibility.

Download and run prime95, and check the clocks with cpu-z when stress testing.

Also what operating system are you using? windows xp?

What is the speed set to in the bios? Have you tried disabling cool & quiet? Try setting the speeds manually in the bios.

cant find cool and quiet settings not there at all Idid only way to get speeds to what they should be is to use the amd overcloking util and this causes instability

Is the bios detecting it as a phenom 560?

The cpu support list doesn't have it, so im guessing the motherboard doesn't know what to do and is just setting it to 800mhz as a safety precaution. (same happens for 125w cpu's that aren't supported)

When you overclock it manually, you should be changing the multiplier and not the bus link. Also make sure to set the VCore to 1.225v (stock voltage) before the frequency change.

Also email biostar and ask them about the support for the 560, they may help by sending you a beta bios which has the updated microcode.

Sent email. Getting sick of freezing. ok have changed and gotten stable however want to fix having to oveclock to get what i paid for.

sometimes and will also sometimes default to its "saftey" mode the 800Mhz if I have to restart. so tired of messing with the bios.

Oh and its reading as an Phenom II x2 560 just settings are wacky.
