I have the Asus P8Z77-V Pro motherboard and i am looking for a processor, the proccessor is an i5 2500k for overclocking, but i saw two different types:

An LGA 1155 and
A socket 1155

They are exactly the same. LGA is an abbreviation for the type of grid layout and contact type.

They are the same, so no performance difference. Any LGA1155 OR Socket 1155 processor will fit, it is just the vendors playing with words. It refers to the same socket, and the processors that go into XXXXX 1155 all will work. Be careful NOT to buy a Core i3/5/7 on the slightly different, but one generation older 1156 socket (LGA1156). Those won't work.
