Hello,
I have change the op sys to Win 7 from Vista, but the machine still has remnants of Vista. I also would like to eliminate the HP Bios and install a good generic laptop bios

No. The BIOS is written for that specific motherboard. Wiping out the BIOS will most likely ruin the laptop.

There is no such thing as a generic BIOS, they are all hardware dependent in this case HP!
