Q about Mario Golf Toadstool Tour

I've found out how to get the password menu for secret tourney's, and the
passwords to enter them. But, after I finish a round, it says something
like "Results Password" and lists two passwords, but they're 9 digit
passwords instead of 8, and the password screen only lets you put in 8
digits.

What's up with that? Anyone?
