Liquid cooling idles at 40c

Hi guys. I just installed an antec kuhler 620. I'm using CM thermal grease and 2 fans instead of the single stock one that was included (both are pushing hot air out of the case). Everyone else is getting 25-30c idle, but i'm getting 38-40c idle temps, something is wrong right?

Load temps are 74c, which is also high for no overclocking.

Thanks in advance.

  1. You might have installed it wrong
  2. That's true, however i've re-installed it 3 times (each time cleaning and reapplying CM thermal grease). I've tried every option i can to get it to work properly but no dice!
  3. the backplate is in correct spot (all 4x 1155 skrews line up) and i've skrewed all 4 screws tightly into place, the actual cooler doesn't move a mm.
  4. How are the fans set up...are you pulling air in from outside the case or from inside it? If from the inside, how's your case cable routing and airflow? If it's a cluttered case with cables not tidied away, you're probably not getting cool air across the radiator.

If you're sure you've installed it correctly, your case layout isn't an issue and it's still giving high temps then I'd RMA it.
  5. case cabling is good, and both fans are pushing out of the case. i'll call antec when they open in 45 minutes.
  6. I believe antec reccomends you pull the fan air in instead of out like corsair does.
  7. wouldn't that pull hot air into the case?

they say they want you to pull the hot air in apparently. :ouch:
  9. that video has the rad exhausting the hot air.

Have you got quiet bios settings for the cpu fan? if these have been setup too quiet then they would have the pump and fan slow enough that you may get no movement?
  10. fans are all set to max. i just removed the antec kuhler and put in my $23 CM hyper tx3 and load temps are at 86c, that also seems very high, i'm not even overclocked! is something wrong here?
  11. what voltage? is it what it should be, are you set to default for your processor?
  12. What is your ambient temps - and what is your temps inside case?
  13. all bios settings are default on an asrock z68 extreme 3 gen3. my old rig (i5 750) only hit 65 when using the hyper tx3, i can't work out why my 2600k is so much hotter!
  14. ambient temp (as in room temp?) is about 26c
  15. Is that with powersavings on or off?
  16. @ 4.0 Ghz Idle (powersavings off ) my core´s are 26-32 degrees - ambient here is 21c idle (powersavings on) cores are 22-29 degrees - core´s load is 45- 55 degrees
  17. which cpu cooler?
  18. Hmm maybe your board is giving too much vcore?
  19. Watercooling - check my info
  20. too much vcore even on default settings (no overclock)?
  21. Check Cpu-z :)
  22. core voltage at idle: 0.952
  23. ok core voltage 0.976 (auto) here idle - @ 4.0 Ghz core voltage 1.304 V (auto)

no... it would pull cool air in as opposed to pushing hot air out.... they recommend it with those coolers, but I have a h60 from corsair (same idea), but I have mine setup exhuasting and I'm sitting at 25º C on my 955 BE
  25. hmm do you think that would make up the quite high temps i'm getting? i explained the problem to antec and they said to get a replacement.
  26. My temps is because my radiator is outside case so it pulls cold (ambient temp 21c) air through it

Then there is something wrong with your cpu

I don't think so... like i said I have a similar setup and am getting super low temps... even though it's pushing out instead of pulling in...
