SLI and Crossfire question

Is it true that SLI and Crossfire Will not work when playing a mmo in windowed mode

That sucks so If I'm doing a single gpu set up am I better off with the and 6970 or the gtx 570

After i did some research it does not suppor it on most games but usually what happens it will run the cards in sli but for some reason you get way less frame rates! So basically it does work but not worth the loss! One case i red he went from 60 fps down to 30 fps but the cards were still both being used!

But honestly the alt tab method is the way to go you can sli and still multitask and you lose no performance or theres the window key!
