I got an Alienware x51. It uses a mini itx motherboard.

I heard some Alienware company guy say that the x51 has a faster boot time because it uses an mini itx motherboard. Said that it does that because there less components to go through.

Another forum guy said he compared the speed of the Alienware Aurora and the x51. He said the x51 was faster in response time and booting.

Is that true that mini itx motherboards are faster?

My my, how far Alienware has fallen.

He may have been referring to something like a RAID controller, which can add an appalling 2 seconds to boot times. Overall boot time is far more dependent on how fast your OS can load (i.e.: with a solid state drive). A mini-ITX setup is more likely to include an SSD because it'll be installed inside a toaster. Overall, mini-ITX boards are packed with slower, cooler, and fewer bits of hardware for their target market.
