Help on usb pls...

O.K. guys here is the thing. In few days i need to make a clean install of
win xp pro on my Nec Versa m300 laptop. Becouse it doesn't have usb 2.0 a
bougth some 2 port controller with NEC chipset wich was freezing laptop from
the beginnig (with drivers on cd foce installed). So I need few advices now:
1.) What to install XP pro with slipstreamed sp2, or clean xp and after that
install sp2?
2.) Wich drivers do you recommend for NEC chipset (wich manufacturer has
best drivers?)?
3.) Anything else to keep in mind?

Sorry on nagging but I would like to know this before I start on
istallation?
