E8400 core 2 upgrade probs

I have a asus p5n sli mb and Im very confused about compatability,some say no go and some charts say to bring down the fsb from 1333 to 1066.Any how,i updated to the latest BIOS and installed the cpu and it will not boot up,just has fans and lights on thats all.Will this work or not? any help is appreciated.If this cpu will not work and I have to find another one,can you throw some suggestions my way ,i would like to have the fastest cpu for that board and is mainly for flight sims

The board should work with any E8400 cpu with BIOS rev. 11,01.

thats what i would think,I have version 1801! but im reading the ASUS forum and says it wont work and then another thread says it will......mine dont work I know that for sure lol
