I've been out of touch with the pc components for a few years so I would like a little bit of advice with this build.
What I'm looking for is a budget build thats still high end (Around $700). I will be ordering parts in a couple weeks, also not sure if there is anything coming soon worth waiting for. I looking for over-clockability, longevity , and flexibility. This will be primarily a gaming rig but I will be using it for some work basically RDP, Putty and other non intensive tasks.

I've decided on the I-5 2500k for its performance and overclockability (will be getting non oem heatsink):

For motherboards I'm pretty pleased with the asrock extreme4 gen3

As far as graphics going I was originally planning on the radeon 6850 but am now leaning towards the 6870. I may consider in the future running this crossfire if needed. I would love the 6950 but seems a bit out of my price range, but one thing i'm wondering is how well do the 6850 and 6870's OC?

The memory I already have is 4x2gb Crucial Ballistix ddr3 1600

Hard drive I'm looking for a 6 Gb/s 7200 rpm thats reasonably priced. Size not a huge issue I have other drives for basic storage, I've even considered a SSD for just the OS.

Case and PSU I haven't decided on yet but I do love the Corsair graphite cases.

I'm currently running
AMD Athlon X2 5600+ OC'd to 3.0ghz
Nvidia 9800gtx
5Gb ram

Any advice comments or criticism would be greatly appreciated. Thank you guys.

The 2500K is a good choice, but the motherboard seems a bit expensive to me. You can get the Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 for $130 and it has basically everything the Extreme4 has.

the 6950 definitely won't fit in your budget, but the 6870 would be a good choice as it performs well @ 1920x1980.

Get the Samsung F3 1TB. Even though it is a SATA II drive, it is faster than WD's SATA III drives because it has a higher platter density. A SSD probably won't fit in the budget, but if you can get your hands on a small cheap one you could use the caching feature on a Z68 board.

Corsair cases are too expensive. Look at the Cooler Master HAF 912. It is a great case and only $60ish.

You don't need a huge PSU for a 6870. I'd go for an Antec because they...
