I don't know much about these computer things, but I would recommend changing your CPU and you gfx card, simply because I believe that a better CPU is more important than a GFX. Maybe switch them for something like this:

GFX card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131434

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115076

I didn't really check on shipping/taxes or whatever, but I believe that shelf price is only $5 more, for a FAR superior CPU (I think)

The cpu is not as important as the graphics card. AMD offers the best performance per dollar so I would stick with that cpu.. Spend the extra money saved from the 955 to buy a better graphics card. Your choices seem good but I would suggest this graphics card, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131374 . It is a the same card and rebate price but comes with dues ex human revolution. If you do not like that game go with this, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150516 . It comes with shogun 2 total war, also is is 10 dollars cheaper after rebate.

me as well believe amd rules, what is the purpose having intel proccesors, you pay them much and you never see them at full potential,at least for the things I do,I don't know about gaming.

What's wrong with you people ....
One is offering to change perfectly good Sapphire HD6850 250bit to HD6770 196bit
Another one suggest crappy brans like Palit, Power Color and XFX jus cause they have damn video game
Go with that video or get GTX460
For ur budget AMD is probably the best choice unless u have microcenter close by where u can pick up i3-2100 for 100$ also there are pretty good deals on amd cpu+mobo

I get that you are on a budget, but just one quick upgrade suggestion: I would suggest going to the 2500K for gaming. It regularly goes on sale for around $180 - $200. You will get a whole world of better performance with the 2500K for approximately $80 more (or less).

You will not stay on this forum very long with your attitude. Depending on your response to this post I may or may not report you to the forum moderators. They will suspend you from posting if you continue your abusive behavior, so consider your response carefully.

You appear to be very young by your responses and I respect that you are trying to help someone, but you will need to learn fast that not everyone will agree with you. You don't agree with me on this point (whether $80 is significant) and I respect that. What I don't do is resort to calling you names because you disagree with me.

If you are not posting to help someone with good motives, then you should not be posting at all.

When you consider that the OP is keeping the computer for awhile, the cost vs. performance equation is a no-brainer. The 2500K will run circles around just about any other CPU and for gaming, Tom's Hardware lists it as the best CPU for the money over $200. Right now it is $189 at Newegg on sale and it frequently goes on sale.

Though we disagree, one thing you can be certain of is that I am posting to help the OP. I do not view this as a competition, I view it as an opportunity to present options to the OP for their benefit. You have presented and option and as my original post said, I understand the budget issue. I respect your opinion though I do not agree with it, please respect other people's opinions even if they differ with yours.

Flong makes a good argument about the i5-2500k but I don't think OP/TC will need that CPU since he states that he's just gonna play DOTA2 and TF2. Also, he's planning on buying an AM3+ mobo so i think he's waiting for Bulldozer. Must be an AMD fan like me!

He's got a solid build for the price.

the i3 has better per core than than the phenom ii x4 955, there for it is said to be better for games since they tend to be lightly threaded. but i noticed that my phenom 840t x5 @ 4.0 Ghz never gets at 100 % usage per core, I play bad company 2, team fortress 2, left for dead 2 at max settings minus high resolutions with a geforce 250 gts 512 mb. So is the i3 really better since games will inevitably move to quad cores as there standard as they already are? I just want to clarify this since people have been saying that both are better than the other. Also the gpu is good but it more costly at around the same performance as the 6850 according to toms charts. As long as EVGA's coverage and build quality are good it would be a decent trade.

Sorry just been a bit frustrated lately. My attitude is fine ... calling names is my bad. Will not happen again. Don't threaten me with reporting just cause you want to get a badge. If my language is not appropriate for the forum that's what the moderators for. I now all about future proofing and cost vs performance. If you can fit 2500k in the decent build under 600 (that's what the MAXIMUM OP can spend) I'll praise u till the end of the days.

Thanks. Just one point of clarification - I don't get anything for "reporting you." In fact it takes precious time and effort to do it. I am not after anything here and I do not have a selfish motive. My only goal is to help the OP by presenting them with options - hopefully good ones :).

I struggled a lot in the learning curve to build my computer and now I try to help others. Many patient people on this forum helped me with my questions and continue to help me and so I try to give back.

I am glad that you are trying to help someone else and that you are budget minded; it is a good thing.
