Hi, I have an htpc build with Athlon II X2 250 and biostar a880G+

and a PC with 9100e quad core.
So, I wanted to swap the motherboards, so using the biostar A880G+ to oc my 9100e.

my question is, should I overclock the athlon 250 or the 9100e because the 9100e has limitations and can only be oc'd with the FSB or something.

Which cpu do you guys suggest I oc and use it for my desktop rig?

Overclock the 250. Drop the ram speed a notch, and increase the cpu fsb to 240 or 250 fsb and see which is more stable. I drop my 1333 to 1066 (using 250 fsb) or my 1600 to 1333 (for 240 fsb). Most applications don't need four cores. I have the a880G+ board and these overclock settings work for me.

Really depends what you do with your computer, but for most tasks the Athlon II X2 will be faster. The 9100e doesn't overclock well either, it's an original Phenom and they struggled to reach overclocks of 2.5Ghz.

Your case has a cut out for a backplate to be installed, so you SHOULD be fine installing...
