Help with ram.

Hello all! I'm new to tom's hardware, and this is my first post... But I need help! I just built my new pc. Everything works, only thing is that my ram says 4Gb.. But I have 8Gbs of ram in there. Here are my specs...

MB: Msi z77a-gd65

CPU: Intel i7 2600. No k, I will also upgrade to a new one soon, don't have the money right now.

RAM: 8GB, I will say that it's ram from a dell xps 8300. and so is the cpu... It's also 4 sticks, and I don't know if my MB can do that, all four sticks are 2GB

GPU: Nvidia GTX 680

PSU: TX750 watt from corsair.

HDD: 1.0 terabyte + 500Gb

OS: windows 7 home 64bit

Any help would be greatly appreciated! So what should I do, I don't have the internet yet for my new pc, needs a network adapter... Going to get it today, So I can't update the drivers yet. Maybe its the ram not in all the way? I don't know, toooo tired to check right now.. Also I'm using a laptop to write this. Thanks if you help!

What brand of ram is it, how much does each module hold, and how many modules do you have
