i recently upgrade my old dell inspiron 545 with E5400 to a Q9300 quad. I used the cheap thermal compound from best buy and the original heat sink and fan. The fan has screw mount and I believe i applied the thermal paste and seated the HSF correctly.
The temp of the quad is a bit high, idle at 55 celsius degree. Under full load using prime 95, temp is 72. But the system is fairly stable and run for several hours under load at the same temp.
My question is; should i be concerned? Some research indicate the thermal sensor of these quad is not accurate at all.
