Thinkpad R40e PCMCIA and wireless

How can I wireless enable my R40e? I am using Ubuntu if that makes a difference. Do I need to use the PCMCIA slot?

  1. If your model does not have a built-in wireless, then yes. Check the forums for Ubuntu to make sure you get a card that will work well with it. A USB card will also work.
  2. The wireless network card could have been optional.

check if you have a switch to turn on the wireless B network card which should be supported by Ubuntu.

Otherwise yes a PCMCIA or USB should work. Just make sure they support Linux.
