So I just gotten done swapping out processors. Before the swap, everything was working fine. After the swap when I went to plug the psu back into the wall, all my fans starte to spin up like normal, only to cut out quickly. I got a wires little buzz from the psu and then nothing.

Now nothing spins up when I plug it in, but my motherboard as everything else lights up like normal. Did I manage to short something?

It's an Intel 790i Ultra an I had just swapped in a Qx6700
Everything was powered by the Dell 1Kw psu that came in their XPS systems

Did you try the old chip again? Have you cleared the CMOS? Have you verified that the new chip works in a different system?
