Battle Field 3

I have gts 250 and i5 750. I know gts 250 cannot handle the BF3 maxed out at 1920x1080 so I need to upgrade my graphics card. Which one should I buy? Should I just wait until BF3 releases?
Another question is does BF3 support physx?

I really want to run this awesome game with minimum frame rates of 30 everything maxed out on 1920x1080 monitor.

Thanks.

TBH nothing can be said before its released. There was a lot of hype about crysis 2 releasing in 2011 with some remarking that a 5970 would be needed to max the game.Turned out the game was a pile of ***.From what I could make out from the videos it doesn't look that demanding.Witcher 2 has better textures than bf3.I would say a gtx 460 shoud max it at 1080p

You made me laugh at work, now everyone is looking at me!

OT: I personally am suggesting something like a GTX 560Ti.

HD 5750 should be able to play it at medium settings no AA,
HD6950 and above if u're planning on playing the game with 8MSAA,
considering how Frostbite 1.5 is killing my wittle Cayman at 1920*1080, I'm gonna guess a 6950 would get around 30-40 + fps in BF3 with 8MSAA.
not sure MSAA would be a feature though, considering DICE is pushing MLAA with Frostbite 2.0

exactly, top end cards for max settings and a decent fps

well seeing as how BF3 is optimized for Radeon it wont support physX. so maybe anything above a 6870 would give you good frames at higher resolutions with some AA. i personally dont like AA, but thats just me. im not too much of a graphics w hore.

noone know, just wait a few months and they will release system specs and maybe a demo so you can figure out what you need. hold on to your money for now.

Cmon, don't lie people, a kettle and a toaster won't work in SLI, you need a kettle and a pot.

Ive got a 570 and im figuring it will basically max it out. I havent OC'd it at all yet but I will if neccesary. I got my 570 new for $250 so if you can find a deal like that then thats definitly your best option.

Actually you'd need a kettle and a kettle for SLi unless you were planning on using the pot for PhysX.

I've got an easybake oven and fondue pot in xfire just fine and I'm running pre pre pre alpha BF3 just fine.

What about gigabyte gtx 560 ti soc? Do you still recommend getting 570/6970?

lol. i never know about that. however being optimize for radeon doesn't have to do with PhysX.

yeah ever since bad company 2 DICE has been using Radeon to build their stuff. they left nvidia after bf2142 i think. and besides isnt Frostbite 2 gonna be better than PhysX for physics? lol

Not sure where he lives, but this guy found the GTX570 at USD250,
I agree that the GTX560 Ti SOC is a good card at USD259, but with the HD6950 1GB at prices as low as USD 200 now,

EDIT: USD 220, my bad, prices based on newegg

Craigslist ftw, guy said he ordered 2 on amazon and got shipped 4... Why does that never happen to me?

BF3 seems to be the next break through in graphics, and unlike witcher 2, this one seems to be extremely shader intense.
I don't know what to expect performance wise, BC2 looked terrible and still required high end rigs to run smoothly so I simply don't trust DICE's ability to code this one the most efficient way.
I even doubt my OCed GTX 570 can run it maxed out with 4x AA

well bc2 was designed for consoles. and bf3 is designed for PC first. it will function way better for pc than it will for consoles. i believe they said they had seperate teams working for the console version. its not gonna be like other games *cough* crysis2 call of duty *cough* where they are built for consoles then ported to PC instead of the other way around.

You are kidding right? The witcher 2 has GODLY textures.Even when I zoom in on them they look good. There are only 2 games that surpass witcher 2:crysis,metro 2033.From what I could make of in their trailers it doesn't look nearly as good as crysis and metro so it should be less demanding on hardware then the both of them

@ celpas, I didn't mention witcher's texture at all. I was talking about BF3 being more shader intense unlike the witcher.

I think you're talkin about BF3 in the last part of your post. I disagree, from the trailers, BF3 seems to have superior shading, shadow casating and post effects. BF3 will need less textures than crysis one, being played mostly in deserts and urbans. However the quality of those textures seems superior as well.
