Yes u can CF6950 with HD6990 since they're both Cayman cores,
and with the 6990 at 830mhz core by default, I doubt pairing it with a 800mhz Cayman Pro would bottleneck it much.

and x8,x8 CFX compared to a x16, x16 CFX setup results in just a miniscule amount of performance loss, so no worries.

1 Question I wanna ask though.........What are u gonna do with all that horsepower? :o

Am bulding my new gaming pc with a 6950 and single slot pci mother board(msi 785g p45) but i doubt if i will me able to run all games(like metro 2033, crysis and other upcoming games) maxed out at 1920*1050 for near 2years......so i asked whether should i go with a x8,x8 mobo.....so that after two years i will CFX with a powerfull card like 6990....but i know 7xxx cards will be realesed very soon so am also thinking if i go with a single slot pci e mobo then i will be able to save some bucks of money and hence after 2yrs i will get new technology with 7xxx card...

1. no CFX on a AMD system, I dont encourage it, CPU will bottleneck
2. Is the system built yet? if not I suggest going Intel or wait for bulldozer
3. it really depends on how soon will u buy another HD6k card

I've chosen AMD Phenom x4 due to my low budget...

If you have better choice around $115 then i would like to see that.

Do you really think a AMD Phenom X4 955 will bottleneck a single Radeon HD 6950??

Just to shine a light on the subject. Are you sure that x8 CFX is not a problem when dealing with a 6990, which is a crossfire card on a single PCB? Logically, it would seem like crossfiring 6970's at x4/x4.

well, it depends on tha games u're playing
A nice OC should clear out all bottlenecks, if u're playing at 192081080 u'll have to worry about less CPU bottlenecks

That's single card performance however

Thanks,
I was just searching for those CPU benchmarks.
If i upgrade the Phenom X4 to i5 2500 will i really see a noticable difference??
And, i will be playing games at 1920*1050 with 8gigs of RAM.

Thank you very much for all your help.
You are my best answerer.

Can you tell me that whether should i go with 2gb or 1gb model??

In my country their price differs with $30(sapphire). So i just want to save those bucks me money and spend it no other parts.

in the upcoming two years, wont any game realease which require more than 1GB VRAM?

and final question-
should i get an 1600*900 (20'') or 1980*1050(22'') monitor??
June 25, 2011 7:57:03 AM

but then i should be able to max out games for 2yrs at that res with full AA.

Searching some 22'' monitors, i got impressed to Dell ST2220L-

accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=bsd&cs=cabsdt1&sku=320-1629

Is that good enough for gaming?

And that monitor has got two models. One is without HDMI port and the other is with HDMI. Which one should I take for better gaming??
