I would like to see that...970 and 955 are exactly the same CPUs but 970 comes with higher clock speed.

Yeah, I was surprised too. Go here: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/63 and you'll need to look at the individual charts in the "Power Consumption" section on the left side. And, actually, it looks like the charts have been "cleaned up" some, as I'm no longer seeing the 955, but I am still seeing the 965, and the 970 uses a LOT less power than that one (the 965 is the one that I believe uses the same silicon as the 955; can't remember where I read something about the 970 being different). In any case, I believe I saw this somewhere else too, but haven't been able to find it lately.

AMD never stops surprising me..thanks for the link, really didn't know that sorry! I want to see his motherboard though. If it supports newer CPUs (even an Athlon II X4) he can keep this and spend his money on a better GPU.

Oh. Well, with a 690FX chipset on it, it is sufficiently old that you may need to visit an anthropology site to find information on it. Even Google isn't being very friendly about it.

Edit: Near as I can tell, it's socket AM2, but that's for the K9A Platinum, which may have some differences.
