I have a 1080p 22" LCD monitor. I'm not sure about the resolution (can't check right now) but I think it's 1920x1200. I usually set my games to that res, but lower it down to 1680x1050 when experiencing frame skips.

I agree with the above. While some ram will be lost to system etc its the best bet for max performance. Your resolution is important but as an i530 dosent restrict a 5850 at resolutions from 1680 x 1050 upwards and a 6870 is only a little faster any restriction would be very slight.
So what you're saying is that it's okay to use the 6870 with the i3 530, provided that I add 2 GB of RAM? Doesn't Windows 7 32 bit only detect 3 GB of RAM?
Sort of, its not that simple but yes in theory. However its better to throw a way the bit of ram that isn't being used to get 4GB running in Dual mode.
Here is a link concerning the abilities of your CPU. It will be fine at your resolution. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-i3-gaming,2588.html
Nice! I'll get more RAM and upgrade to 64 bit. Save up cash for the 6870 and sell my 5770. Looks good on paper. lol...Thanks for the link. I will check it out. I'm still learning the GPU and CPU game. Having fun so far. PC gaming FTW!
