What's going wrong in my computer?

This is my first build and i am doing a test boot... the visual signs show that the motherboard is running, but i get no splash screen on startup... what's wrong? could it be my cpu? it was pretty hard clamping down the fan on top but i was told that was normal... could it be my graphics card? i dont really think so... I also get no startup beep from my speaker on startup... whats going wrong?
