Hey,

I am wondering if I need to install directx 9 on my windows 7 64 build? - I see directx11 is installed in the dxdiag window. I have downloaded and run the directx runtime to get 9.0 c but it says directx is up to date.

Are all my games running in directx 9 since that's all the 8800gts 320 can handle in terms of architecture?

I was getting black screens of deaths with looping sound before I did a bios update and a few windows updates. Haven't had one since.

I am using the following:

p8p67 LE asus 1155
i5 2400
2x2gb kingston ram
evga 8800gts320mb
win 7 64 bit

You always install the latest most up to date version of Direct X regardless of the capabilities of your GPU. Your GPU simply won't use features it does not support, but the newer version of direct X may also have improvements to the features the card can support. Oh and by the way, an 8800GTS 360mb card is DX10 capable, which it should be using running Vista and Win 7. DX10 was not available under XP, but it had nothing to do with your card, it was XP. However, you will find that if you enable DX10 features in games, the old 8800GTS will be straining to run at acceptable frame rates.
