Speaker problems: No sound!

I wanted to up the sound on my laptop by downloading and installing SRS Essentials. I only downloaded the free trial version to see how it is. It worked well but whenever I'd use the max volume, I would smell something funny like something being burnt (I can't really describe it). My laptop wasn't really hot but I could still smell it. Later I realized one of the speakers on my laptop stopped working. Is it blown? No sound is coming out at all. Not sure if it's a software problem either. How can I fix it?

If you've smelled smoke, it's too late to fix by yourself, unless you're some kind of speaker technician ofc. I think you should contact HP about this problem.
