I have a new Linksys wireless printserver which I cannot get to work wireless.... Little help from Linksys support.
I have a new Linksys SRX router connected to Motorola Surfboard modem connected to Comcast Cable.
I connect to the router via wireless Linksys usb adaptor and have no problems except with the PrintServer.
The printserver works ok with ethernet connected but not wireless although the setup program sees it and the utility program will print a test page ok but I can't print through anything else. The driver install program will not complete because it says, "change your computer ip address to match the printserver". I've tried to manually enter ip in the printserver but still have same problem.
Is my router ip and computer ip the same thing? If not, how do I change my computer ip and then should I disable dhcp in my router?
I've been configuring and reconfiguring for 3 days and am at my wits end. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Your Router will have your Comcast's Public IP address and then it will probably have the internal (private) IP of 192.168.1.1 and hand out IP addresses in the range of 192.168.1.100 and up.
Your router, PC, and Print Server will all have different IP addresses.
I'm hoping that it is your model, if not you might want to actually consult that CD that came with the printserver. Read the manual, it'll help you figure out what steps you might be missing.
Problem solved. BestBuy took back the Linksys so I got HP 6840 Printer with wireless built in for another $90.00 ($40 with mailin rebate) and had everything working great in about 20 minutes. Still can't figure why Linksys is such a hassle but I'm very satisified now. Thanks for your help.
