I'm looking at a new AMD/a7v system and am trying to decide on the video card. I see everyone talking about DVD decoding on the graphics cards and can't tell from the ASUS website whether the v7700 deluxe does DVD decoding in hardware or through software. I'd like to assume that it'll allow me to play DVDs from my computer to a TV like any decoder card...right? Just making sure...Thanks

Definitely would (but should be software decoding), because since you're building a new computer, I'm sure that it'd be able to handle DVDs even without hardware decoding.

Tom has done a review on the 7700 deluxe...looks to me that that card will do everything you want concerning video. They even sell a version with a TV tuner built in. Get the 64MB version though, if you can afford to. I'm still saving for mine...but maybe by the time I get the cash together, there will be something better from Radeon. Still, we'll see. BTW check out the CPU section, there are a lot of debates about the possibilities of overclocking the athlon with Asus A7V, you should read up, then you'll know which cooler, chip, and type of board to look out for.

PEACE.
