i wish to upgrade the power supply on my emachines et1161-07 to at least 650w. but i don't know which power supplies are compatible with this computer and i can't seem to find really any online. can anyone help me?

Your emachine should work with any standard atx power supply. I recommend corsair, antec, seasonic, enermax, xfx, and ocz. Don't buy a cheap brand that's lightweight, especially with an expensive video card. They often fail.

Depends on your video card specs. Normally, the spec includes the rest of the system components. So if your video card recommends a 500w ps, then you should be ok.

I would go for a 750w to be safe if you can swing it. But no cheap brands; stick with corsair if 600w is all you can afford.

i can afford a 750w or even an 850w i just want to know which model would be best and would be compatible with my computer. what do you suggest?

Yes. Standard atx power supplies have the mounting holes pre-drilled to fit almost any case. Only a few are oversized; the only one I saw was a modular one. You may have to tie down the extra cables, so some folks prefer modular, but it's not necessary. If the power supply opening is at the bottom of the case, then those longer cables come in handy.
