That's your problem. The UK site has a number of bugs which don't exist on the US site, including that one. You'll also notice that the quick edit doesn't work, you just get a cancel button. The website engineers are working on these bugs but were only recently told about them.

I've seen the "can't edit" comment so often from new posters that I thought it was a requirement that you had to have a certain post count before the edit feature was enabled.

I don't think so. I can edit my messages in this forum. But I can't in Overclocking forum. I have the same post counts in total for both forums right ?

Maybe I should try US site...

If you have a problem, try switch sites

How long can it take to fix? This has been going on for months now on the UK site...  

Some of the UK site bugs I reported they didn't know about, and they are working on a few at a time. The logout bug (where session cookies aren't cleared) especially will take some time to fix.

i could write a brand new forum faster than they are fixing the bugs in this one.

So this is pointing to the need for a proper bug tracking system, maybe something where we can see expected fixes and click to add ourselves to the list of affected users. If people are reporting bugs here on the forum and the developers do not know about them then clearly the present system is not working to well.

I'm new to this forum and have exactly the same problem. Very frustrating because I completely messed up one of my posts in the Overclocking forum and I can't edit it.  

i just got a new girlfriend, but im up for a new challenge so ill do it.  

You could just use the US forum for the time being.

Same problem several months ago, same problem today.
Fixing this type of bugs shouldn't take THAT long time... I guess the website admin just lazy or being unresponsible. Tsk tsk...

I got the same problem and its quite annoying. Are the US forums a mirror copy of the Uk forums? I always get send to the UK site since I live in europe. I don't want to be bothered to switch to the US constantly.
