My disk drive wont read any type of disk (cd,dvd, floppy) and my dad thinks there could be a problem with the mother board so it would be useless to buy a new drive and i personally think that is a rip-off :fou: :fou: :fou: :fou: :fou: :fou: :fou: :fou: :fou: :fou:

Hi

There should be no connection between problems with Floppy disk drive & DVD drive

Win 7 does not show removable drives until disk inserted.

Registry corruption can prevent CD or DVD being read (Google 'upper filter drivers site:microsoft.com' for fix)

Security Software can prevent access to CD/DVD

or hardware problems may occur. Does Bios and Device Manager show a CD\DVD drive ?
CD & DVD have separate laser which can fail. power & data cables can come loose at either end

Can you boot up from a Windows CD/DVD or any other bootable CD ?
if so it looks like software or registry corruption.
