Hi, I just finished my first build of a PC and overall it went well, but I have not figured out how to connect the connector at the end of the front panel USB cable from the Corsair 400R case (with its special connector) to anything on the ASUS M5A88-V EVO motherboard, which does support USB 3.

I can't find a definite answer through Googling, so any advice would be appreciated.

My two guesses are: 1) that I need to run through one of the rubber grommet holes at the back of the case and connect to one of the back plane USB 3's, but is there an adapter to go from the USB plug to whatever connector is at the end of the Corsair front panel USB connector? 2) that I need to just hook up the front panel case cable to a USB 2 connector on the motherboard, and know that for any device where I want to use USB 3 I just need to connect it to the one of the two on the back plane (which is not that big a deal to me, but again, how do I migrate from the front panel case USB cable connector to the motherboard USB connectors (of which there are three).

My third option is just not to use the front panel USB which is easier than it sounds cause I have a USB hub sitting on the desk.

But since I am a noob and this is the only question left from my first build, I thought I'd ask if I'm missing something obvious.

Thanks in advance.

#1.

Your motherboard doesn't have onboard USB 3.0 - just rear panel USB 3.0. I'd just plug USB 3.0 storage through the rear panel if it doesn't travel much.
