Need advice on graphics card upgrade

Hi guys,

I have an HP p6618it, Intel Core i3 550 3.2Ghz, chipset Intel H57 PCH, Ram 6144Mb DDr3, NVIDIA GeForce G210 (on PCI Express x16). I would like to upgrade the video card buying a Radeon HD 5750. The PSU is 300 WATT

On your opinion would that be possible? Or should I change the PSU?

Thanks in advance!

  1. 450 Watt or greater power supply with one 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended.... so i'd say you'd need to either upgrade PSU or get another video card
  2. Thanks for your reply!

I know, 450 Watt power supply, but for which hardware? I mean 75 Watt for the video card but the 225 Watt remaining wouldn't be enough for my hardware?
  3. it may only need one 75w plug, but it takes 75w or 150w for the PCIe slot as well (not sure what watts it was again). also they recommend that amount of power so the power supply can handle the hole pc.
  4. Maybe, as you told me, it's better if I go with something requiring less power. HP sells another model with the same mother board and the same psu, but with a GT 440 video card. I'll buy an "ASUS - GeForce GT 440 1 Gb ddr5". I think, and I hope, it will fit my needs

    Thanks again! :hello:

HD 6670 are a bit faster than GT 440. Its the fastest card that not using 75w 6-pin power connector nowadays.

  6. Yes, faster!

But, coming back to my original question, will be my psu (12v 19a) sufficient?
