I'm Having an issue installing the nvidia drivers for my card...WHY (P4/3.ghz, 1.5 Gb Ram, XP Professional)

Don't know but you could try booting into safe mode and try again.

only few things can be wrong there,
you got the wrong drivers
you have older drivers which prohibit new ones from working (in registry or elsewhere)
your card has been biosed to something else
you are the lucky discoverer of a new bug

New drivers should let you perform a "clean installation", deleting previous registry files and stuff... Maybe that could help. There are specific tools for driver deletion too.

All the above advice sounds complete. If you still have issues, be more specific and I'll attempt to help.

In general (from above):
1. remove any drivers from add/remove programs
2. download and install a driver removal tool for NVidia or ATI (whatever you previously had)
3. Download new drivers for your card (be very sure it's for your card AND for your version of Windows)
4. Install the new drivers
