RAM Help

So I have a new T3500 Dell workstation with the Intel X58 chipset. I am looking to upgrade to 12GB (4GBx3). (I have the 64 bit OS)

I have checked the crucial site to verify I am getting the proper RAM type...

But my question centers around the RAM speed. Crucial says my PC will accept these 3:

DDR3 PC3-10600
DDR3 PC3-8500
DDR3 PC3-12800

I am not a PC guru...but I am guessing the numbers at the end are the speed, and the higher the number, the faster it is.

So would there be any reason I would not want to just go for the "12800"?

It is only $5 more than the "10600" model in the G.SKILL Ripjaws Series I am looking at...

Thanks for any insight...

You are right I would go with the fastest one as well! the 12800 is 1600MHz

And I am guessing I will have to go into the OS somewhere and adjust some settings to utilize this...correct?

You might have to go into BIOS to set your ram speed manually.

Any potential problems going with the faster of the 3 choices?
