I have alot of money and this rig:

Phenom II x4 955 3.2ghz
4GB's of RAM
Win 7 32 bit (getting 64bit soon maybe)
HD5770 1GB
550w PSU

I need a new graphics card to run Battlefield 3.

I was looking at the 6950 or 6970 and will that be good?

well then, both are good cards for your resolutions. Btw I heard that HD6950 can be unlock to become HD6970, but the temps are not nice. If budget is not your problems, go get the HD6970 and replace ur PSU to a good brand of 700w PSU. etc; seasonic, antec, corsair

I have a 550w VX Corsair PSU and it says 6970 2GB recommends 550w, do I need more power? They say it's a high quality PSU so I should not need more as I don't have many other extra stuff which takes power.

You PSU should be fine, thats a quality PSU and they generally estimate high for watt needs anyways. If your worried at all do the 6950, but if the 6970 is in your budget go for it.

that corsair 550w PSU of yours is barely getting the job done if using HD6970. I'm not saying it wont work, but for futureproof, overclocks or adding more ram, at least get a good 600w PSU. 700w will be better. I'm just saying it's a waste if ur not overclock ur black edition AMD cpu.

That 550W is enough for an HD 6970 or GTX 580, but barely: don't overclock anything. Actually, depending on the price you could go for a GTX 580 as well. The GTX 580 is somewhat more powerful and boasts a lower TDP, but reviews show it using consuming more power in actual games.
