HD 6670, HD 5750 and HD 5770. I would look at these three cards (I listed them in increasing order of performance, price and power consumption). If your PSU doesn't have a PCI-E 6-pin connector then the choice is easy: the HD 6670.

Thanks for the replies and suggestion .I forgot to mention that i am currently using Gigabyte Ati Radeon HD5570(1GB).So basically i am trying to upgrade the gpu.My price range is about 180 to 230 USD.
My power supply does have a six pin power connector.I would be glad if u can give suggestion about both Ati and nVIDIA cards and also with statistics (i play games sometimes : :D ).I live in Bangladesh and price really differ after converting USD to my local currency(price gets more costly).

To luv2break thank u and can you please tell me what is your configuration and what card are you going after?(and where do u live?)

To Gulli thanks and looking forward to your suggestion.

Again thank u everyone :) :)

Don't get the 5770.Its way overkill for your system considering your resolution is even lower than 1280X1024.Besides that pentium dual core would heavily bottleneck it.Get a gts 450 or a 5750.Both will max out all games at your resolution

thanks for your reply and if u can please clear these facts that my monitor supports 1280X1024 resolution and i thought 1440*900 resolution is higher and also the "max out " configuration (i could be wrong and i dont mind playing games at lower resolution if i get good fps and graphics with some FSAA )So it will be very helpful.
again how about the GTS 250 ?

GTS250 has the same performance as both the HD5750 and GS450 but no DX11,
I would seriously recommend u going to a HD5770 is the price gap is not large and yet performance much more superior
thanks for ur reply but

i am a bit confused :??: u suggested the 5770 whereas Celpas said not to get this :??: so it will be helpful if u can clear the confusion.(gts 250 is a 256-bit card and 5770 is a128-bit card so little help here)

also as i am currently using a ati card so any idea about nvidia cards?

Let me make this clear to you.The 5770 is more powerful than the gts 450 and the amd 5750.However the 5770 is targeted for 1680X1050 resolution and the gts 450 for 1280X1024.Since you have a pentium dual core it will heavily bottleneck your 5770.On the other hand the gts 450 will be bottlenecked less. And as far as your resolution is concenrned I did a little miscalculation there.1440X900 is more demanding. However you can always overclock the gts 450 to 5770 performance. If you find the 5770 for a low price then get it.It will max every game out there at your resolution. If the gts 450 has a even lesser price then get that because you can always overclock it to 5770 performance while the 5770 is a poor overclocker

The gts 250 is slightly more powerful than gts 450 but it has no dx 11.BTW You can't compare 5770 128 bit bus with 250 256 bit as they are completely different architectures

thanks for ur clear and detailed reply and the price for the cards are close(differ by 20-25 USD).
and this may sound silly but at the same range 6770,6790 is also available so what do you think :D

another thing if u can please give me some info about nvidia cards(i wish to use a nvdia card )

I am also planning to upgrade my cpu mid of next year so should get a quadcore or a i5 system?

thanks again.

They wont be "heavily bottleneck" they are cards of the same tier, u will only see as much bottleneck in the 5770 as u will in a 5750 or GTS450?

Where do u live anyways?
There's really good offers on the egg rite now

thanks

and if u can pls clear the matter :??:

I live in bangladesh and i have no credit card so online shopping is not possible although the offers are great.

another thing i am gonna upgrade my cpu mid next year so quadcore(dont have to change motherboard ) or i5 system?
any suggestion will be appreciated.
thanks again.

If you are going to consider nvidia cards versus amd cards with similar performance the amd equivalents consume less power whilst giving same performance. However the nvidia cards have physx and a good driver support(my own experience with amd and nvidia cards) .Between the 5770,6770 and 6790 the 6790 is most powerful. If the price difference between the gts 450 and the the amd 6790 is not great go for 6790 without hesitation.THE NVIDIA equivlent to 6790 is gtx 550 ti.If the 550 ti is equally priced to 6790 I would go for it because you get physx and awesome drive support. However after purchasing these cards I recommend you buy a new monitor and a quad core cpu bcoz it will increase your frames even more

Buy a quad core as it helps in cpu dependant games like crysis 2.As for video card go for gtx 550 ti or 6790.Both will max all games at your resolution

thanks for ur quick reply.
sorry i made a little mistake here.i cannot change my cpu before next year so 6790 and 550ti is not gonna work. :(

i thoght i5 system is better than quadcore :??:

and if i buy a better card before the cpu which card should i go for 6790,6850,5850,6770,550ti or 460(i have to wait for this card more as it is costlier) or go for the 450,5770 or stick with my 5570?

as for brand the available brands are asus, xfx, msi, sapphire and mostly gigabyte(and sadly all the brands are from china in my country) so the best among them would be which one?

again thanks :) :)

out of the cards you listed 5850 is most powerful followed by 6850 and gtx 460 the 6770=5770 which is weaker than 6790.However your cpu is a pentium dual core which will bottleneck all these high end gpus.Besides your resolution is also low.Go for the 6790.My trusted brand out of the ones listed is xfx.I would avoid sapphire and msi.asus and gigabyte are my next choice.
As far as cpus are concerned
intel core i7>intel core i5>intel core 2 quad>intel core 2 duo>intel pentium dual core.

My suggestion will be to go for 6790

thanks for the suggestion.

but i am thinking about long term solution suppose i get a 460 and then after getting my i5 another 460 to sli (i found in some

discussion in this site that two 460 is equivalent to one 480 and roughly one 580 ) so what do you think the 6790 or 460?

thanks again.

To utilise those 2 460s you need at least a 2560X1440 resolution monitor or a 1080p monitor.SLI is useless at your current rez as both 6790 and 460 can max all your games. If you plan to upgrade to a newer 27 inch monitor then get a 460.If you plan on sticking with your current monitor get the 6790.

okay the thing is between 6790 and gtx 460 price difference is only 30 USD(in my range) so now for a better solution for future i would like to go for the 460(i kind of like this card too much :D :D that's why i am asking again and i am going to sli after changing my cpu)

and also many thanks for your suggestion and help. :) :)

If you can afford it go for the 460 as its a better long term solution. However with a 460 I woould buy a 1080p monitor first as games look stunning at that resolutin :)

thanks for your quick reply :)

sorry to disturb u again but i play mostly crysis2,fear 3,nfshp 2010,dirt 3 fallout 3,crysis1, so will they be playable with minimum 30 fps at 1440X900 with graphical improvement far better than my 5570?(i do not expect anything mind blowing but the best :D

i have to play most of these games in 1024X768 to get decent frame rate and i get most of the time over 40 fps and some times even over 50 in crysis2 with gamer settings and it is like these

https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/OEuCoqR89Ohju24qElql-g?feat=directlink
https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/RJMPdmEUiXhcO3ZVAfI4SA?feat=directlink
https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/EvoPrzk9NAqkvh1D9IhrXw?feat=directlink

and i get 23-30 fps in gamer settings at 1440X900 res (and i cannot see any difference between gamer or hardcore settings in both resolution only significant frame drop.

(and i wish i could play crysis2 with the new dx11 pack and at least in high settings but is it possible with my configuration with the 460? i know it is silly to expect that but again just curious :)

thanks again :) :)

that resolution is absolutely nothing to the gtx 460.It will max all your games even at 1920X1080.You can easily play crysis 2 with dx 11 on and the new ultra setting and get 30+ fps.You can even max crysis 1 and metro 2033.aS FOR NFSHP 2 ,CALL OF DUTY AND THE OTHERS YOU WILL GET 60 +FPS.As I said even the 6790 can max out all games with 30+fps at your resolution. To give you an idea the 460 is equal to 10 5570s.If you have any more questions feel free to ask

thanks again for your help and suggestion.

so u are telling me that i can play anything with max setting(i mean with improved graphics and dx11) at 1440X900 resolution with 30+ fps :wahoo:

that would be great!! :D :D

and can u suggest me a decent power supply for running a 460?or the amp required in the 12V rail?

brands available are gigabyte, valuetop, thermaltake(all are chinese sadly :( )
and for graphics they are also from china :(

and again thanks a lot. u have been very helpful and i wish i could give u another best answer :D

and for 6790 I prefer nvidia for good driver and physx and also as i said before price difference is small and in my range ;)
