Hi,
I have an older poweredge 2900 running windows 2008 R2. It is a good system, but of course, I have this in my home office. Because of the noise and the heat, I only turn it when I really needed, as I have another server. Note, my other server is running in vmware fusion, in mac pro which is quiet and very cool.

But at times, I would like to keep it one for longer period of times and I was wondering what can I do

1) Cool it down

2) if possible, make it less noisy. (While 1 is more important.)

thanks,
Francisco

Yeah - place your poweredge 2900 server near an air conditioning unit. Server's are meant to be placed where there is constant A/C (or a controlled environment).

I'm looking for a solution that involves adding some coolers to the server.

Your answer is trivial.

Well what do you have?

The 5U rack or the Server tower? You need to give us more information.

Saying:

"Me need to cool server, how to cool server?"

Does not help. Give us ALL OF YOUR DETAILS OF YOUR SERVER. Remember - information is key here.

Thank you chainzsaw.
I didn't realize that I didn't give you that information.
I have the tower. I can take pictures tonight at my house.
