Need advice on a network card for a desktop?

Hey everyone. So I'm building a custom rig soon and unfortunately due to money reasons, I gotta live with the wifi around the townhouses I reside in isntead of my own internet. Parents control anything so I can't do anything.

I'd like a b/g/n card that is powerful and everything, dunno too much about networking but I want it to have b/g/n for sure, I'm pretty sure they're all cheap so can you guys please provide some well known, long-lasting, powerful, far-range cards? XD

Thanks for your time

  6. Uh, just so I'm sure, does this give my desktop WIRELESS capabilities... I'm not asking for an expansion to plug an ethernet cable into if that's what that is

  8. intel only makes ones for laptops. Here's one from asus. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320040

It's a usb stick you just plug it in and go.

Oh the range is 150 meters. Do you prefer a card or that USB style?

    this one is a card.

A card will probably get you better range than a USB stick.

Now this is a pci-express card also so you need to make sure you have a pci-express slot. If not then you have to go PCI slot instead.

read comments, do some research, and be an informed consumer before buying.

    Good luck!

Im getting the Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 and the XFX Radeon HD 5770

I should be able to install this just fine right?
  11. Yep; You'll have to use the top slot by the sound ports. Should be good tho.
