Upgrading Graphics Card - XPS 410

I have an older XPS 410 which currently has an 8600 GT in it.

I want to play Bad Company 2 on it and its pretty bad as you would expect (have to lower from 1920 to 1680 or whatever) and settings are on low.

Was thinking of getting a 9500 GT but unsure if that will even help me.

Computer has a 375 watt PSU, 4gb Ram and I am running Windows 7.

If the 9500 is not a good option, what other choices do I have?

Thanks

Have to ask what kind of budget you're working with?

I understand your desire to play the best game available at higher res with more details, but if you do so, you will need a new power supply in order to power a card with a higher power requirement:

A 9500 won't cut it. Get at least a GTX 560 ti.

This upgrade will cost you around $270. If a 9500 is your only option and you can get it extremely cheaply $10-20, you'll see some kind of improvement, but nothing too big.

I know you're trying to get every last bit out of the system as possible, but the other thing to consider, too, is Bad Company 2 takes advantage of modern processors by utilizing every thread you have available. It really requires a lot to run this maxed out. With the 560 ti, you'd be able to take this and put it into a new system at some point as well.

Its has an older PCI Express port so I am usure a 550 to 560 would work...and I would have to get the PSU upgraded.

Im just looking for slight improvement because I will need a whole new rig for BF3 (well I want a new one at least) and want to wait until late august/early september before buying or building one.

Just looking for BFBC2 to be serviceable (its pretty bad now with the 8600 on Low lol).

Thanks for quick replies!

Here is the information on the PCI Expansions. Not at home so cant confirm if Core 2 or has something older (specs page says it could have either). Will repost later today to confirm cpu.

Expansion Bus

Bus type
PCI 32-bit (PCI Specification 2.2)
PCI Express x1, x4, and x16 (PCI express 1.1a)

Bus speed
PCI: 33 MHz

PCI Express:100 MHz

Bus throughput
PCI Express:

x1 slot bidirectional speed - 500 MB/s

x4 slot bidirectional speed - 2 GB/s

x16 slot bidirectional speed - 8 GB/s

PCI

connector data width (maximum)
32 bits

PCI Express (x1)

Well , that's an XPS 410, problem is it could have come with anyone of a bunch of different chips from P4 2.8 to Pentium D to Core2Quad Q6600.
You said P4, what you have will make a difference in what is reccomended.
