I am setting up an HTPC using my "old" computer. This has a HIS ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics card with a DVI out port on it. I am going to connect this via HDMI cable to my HDTV.
This may seem like a totally trivial, stupid or unnecessary question but I thought this would be the place to ask - should I buy a DVI to HDMI cable or a DVI to HDMI converter with an HDMI cable as well? It just seems like the DVI to HDMI cable is much cheaper - 5m for £5.66 as opposed to £6.96 and £4.29 which has 3m less in total. The HDMI cables also seem to go up to extremely high prices (for no obvious reason - £258 which suggests is totally unnecessary). Is there any difference or potential loss in quality?
Also, HIS seem to have their own specific adapter for this purpose - is there any reason I should opt for that instead?

Thanks in advance!
