So I have 3 Monitors Samsung Syncmaster 2343 2048x1152 and wanna do the whole 3 times display I know I need a video card with 2GB of ram or more but do not want to speend 1200 on 2 GTX580 3GB. So Should I go with the 2 CF HD 6970 or go with SLI on the new EVGA GTX 570 2.5 GB. and will I be able to play at high setting on 6144x1152 Resoultions?

I've not seen any games benched at that resolution, so I don't know exactly where a 2 gb framebuffer (6970) would start to 'hit the wall', framerate-wise...; my gut says that twin 6970s would likely handle the high res settings better, but, I've not seen any of the GTX570/2.5 gb variants tested to know for sure....

HardOCP did some 5760x1200 testing (6.9 million pixels), and determined they had not hit any VRAM /framebuffer walls/limits yet, so, perhaps 2 gb will be sufficient for your res (7.07 million pixels)....

The 6970 CFX is easily the best choice for that resolution. You should be able to play games on high settings.

Make sure your system supports crossfire.

That what I though until the GTX570 2.5 GB came out most of the review show the 6970 CFX higher on higher rez game than the GTX 570 1.25 but lower rez they were neck to neck with the GTX coming out alittle ahead so I wonder now with this new 2.5GB Variant it might be better. I have not been able to see any reviews on the new GTX to really come out with a good answer.

I think you are muddled up with the GTX 590, which is the only dual GPU card, the GTX 570 (1.25 or 2.5GB) only has memory as a differance, where as the CFX 6970's will perfom better than a HD 6990(AMD's dual GPU card).

No I mean SLI GTX570 2.5 GB (New Varient offered by EVGA) VS CFX 6970 2BG From what I am reading the only reason the 6970 is better at High Resoultion of 2500+ is the extra ram over GTX 570 1.25GB. Now that there is a new one with double the ram, which if U understand right will help with the extra VRAM you need for Higher resoultions that the orginal GTX 570 lacked at.

I think you are correct, asmodyus. The gtx 570 with 2.5gb sli should in theory beat the 6970CF hands down. Even I am curious to see the benchies. No site is interested? :(

I agree; the 570 SLI should technically beat the crossfire setup - and furthermore it's what I'd recommend theoretically - sadly I haven't seen any benchmarks or reports, so I can't ground my opinion in reality.

One thing to keep in mind is that some games offer very poor SLI/Crossfire support, so don't be surprised if you're playing some games on one monitor at a far lower resolution.

I'd still lean towards the CF 6970 as i've read the ATi cards scale better on multiple monitor setups. Sorry for pointing out the obvious when you have a rig of this spec but make sure your PSU will handle a CF setup. I'd guess 1000W Corsair or similar.

Yeah got a Kingwin 1000 watt PSU, went ahead with a pair of MSI Lighting HD6970 cannot find a review on the GTX570 2.5GB plus from what I read Eyeffenity is better than Nvidia 2d Sourround.
