CD ROM can copy data from CD but can't copy back to a blank CD.

CD ROM can copy data from CD but can't copy back to a blank CD.
This is a recent problem, CD ROM was working fine before

A CD-ROM is Read Only Memory whereas a CD-RW is Read/Writable. If your drive is truly a CD-ROM, then you won't be able to write to anything. Check under Device Manager to see what the drive model is and check it on the manufactures web site. That should clear it up.

So, it is CD-RW, and I was able to copy before. Now my copy app reads CD and asking to insert blank CD in the drive. But when I insert blank, copy app is not seeing it and therefore can't copy to it.

Have you changed brands of disc??

My Lite On dvd burner used to do that with certain brands of DVD-Rs...

You could have the write head on the cd burner going out. I would suggest taking $20 and going down to your local computer store and getting a new burner.
