Can a loose led wire on a cooling fan make a pc freeze?

My computer was freezing with no bsod,i noticed that one of my fans led was blinking i have taken out said fan..and so far no more freezes...could a wire on an led on a pc fan freeze a pc?

It's difficult to say for certain without knowing a few other details, but it is definitely not inconceivable that if the loose wire was creating a short somewhere, that it could have caused a wide array of problems.

Well from what you posted -- it did! Sure if any component is failing in particular causing a 'short' then sure it can cause a freeze or worst permanently damage your MOBO.

it was a 120 mm fan with led hooked up to motherboard. arock Z77 Extreme4 by the way.
the led wire looks like it could touch itself.Anyway i just hope this is it because im sure it wasnt the antec high current gamer..though i was thinking it when i replace the mobo and the cpu and the memory and still after tirty days ran into freezing with no bsod.
Cross my fingers no freeze without a bsod yet.

Run AIDA64 Extreme for 24-48 hours with all stress options and if your system survives that test then you're pretty safe that it wasn't damaged. Every PC I build is tested that way and it's a very good indicator.
