Is this CPU compatible with my Motherboard?

According to Speccy, my motherboard is an ECS-USA GeForce6100PM-M2 (Socket AM2 )
My current processor is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+.

Someone purchased an AMD Black Edition Phenom II X6 1100T as a gift for me, but it's still in the process of being shipped.

Will it work, or do I need to buy a new motherboard?

(I'm sorry. I'm sure questions like these get annoying, but I'm not that bright in this area.)

More about compatible motherboard
  1. i would reccomend you to get a new mobo................
  2. I've had the motherboard since '09, this was just kind of my reassurance as to whether or not I'll have to spend more money since I've began upgrading my computer.

that proc is AM3 and your board is AM2... so no, it's not compatible
  4. If you want to extend the life of your new mobo grab an AM3+ board...
  5. That's pretty disappointing, but thank you anyways.

  7. btw you should definitely get a 990 board to go with it.... you should be able to upgrade to piledriver if and when it comes out without another mobo upgrade
  8. Is like this one? http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=1087&CategoryID=1&MenuID=20&LanID=0

Because that is an AM2/AM2+ mobo and support AM3 CPUs until 1065T, unfortunately not the 1100T that's on the way.
