Confused on a crossfire benchmark drop

I'm currently dual 5870 (2gig per card) on an Asus Sabertooth board. When I Have crossfire enabled i get a lower benchmark score both pci-e slots supposedly run at 16 speed. I am running a 1000 watt power supply that can handle 3 video cards. I've tried with 1 bridge and 2 bridges no change. I also have the most recent drivers. Any ideas?

In what 'benchmark'? Are you sure Crossfire is enabled/set up correctly within display driver controls/software?

And what specific chipset is a Sabertooth? X58? AMD890? (I believe they have a variety of Sabertooth boards..)

I've done novabench3.03 and crystalmark09. It is an x58 with the Intel 1366 cpu it is crossfire ready.

i believe the software is set up right the box is checked and i only have one monitor

Are your profiles (Catalyst Application Profiles, or CAP) updated? What profile was selected when the tests were run?

Synthetic benchmarks don't really mean a damn thing anyway. Try some in-game benchmarks with a properly updated and active CAP, then compare the results.
